Should I hire a Cherry Picker?
Should I hire a Cherry Picker?
If you need to trim some bothersome branches from a few trees or add a bit of sparkle to high level windows, but lack confidence in your ladder skills, cherry picker hire could be the answer. A cherry picker can provide easy access to leaky guttering and provide a stable base to work from while painting walls. In fact our lifts have so many uses we’re tempted to say the sky’s the limit, but we’ll resist the urge to exaggerate.
If you are reading this you may already have a project in the pipeline and be looking for a stable, safe way to work at height. If that is the case you have two options—erecting some scaffolding or using a cherry picker. Although there is nothing wrong with using scaffolding it takes a little while to set-up. With a cherry picker it’s just a case of parking in the desired location and operating the lift. It’s quick, it’s simple, and a lot safer than wobbling around at the top of a ladder, but it may not be the right option for everyone or for all situations.
Some Cherry Picker Hire Considerations
Before rushing out to hire a cherry picker it is important to ask yourself two questions:
• How high do I need to go?
• Will the cherry picker reach?
Our Nifty Lift hoist has a maximum reach of 40ft. For most jobs this should be more than adequate, but if you have any doubts about the practicalities our staff members at Macroom Tool Hire & Sales are always happy to be of assistance.
Ground quality is an important consideration as well. If the ground is unusually rough, or the gradient too steep, it may not be possible to safely use a cherry picker and damp and/or soft ground can also present difficulties and dangers that may make the use of a cherry picker unwise.
The weight in the cage is also an important factor. The weight of your body and any tools, paints, or other items that accompany you all add up and will reduce how far it is safe to outreach. The safe working load will be provided on the cherry picker and should never be exceeded.
If the cherry picker hired is intended for indoor use, access issues may be a consideration. If you have any doubts about whether the dimensions of the machine will allow access to specific doorways or corridors, make the necessary measurement prior to hiring the machine. It can save a lot of head-scratching and stress later on.
