Buying a Chainsaw – Make safety your top Priority.
Although there are a number of other brands of chainsaw for sale in Cork, here at Macroom Tool Hire & Sales, years of experience has shown us that, for quality and reliability, one chainsaw brand stands head and shoulders above the competition—Husqvarna chainsaws. We feel they are the best, and are proud to stock a range of the best chainsaws in Cork, but although all Husqvarna chainsaws are constructed with a number of built-in safety features (kickback guard, chain brake, chain catcher, throttle lock and easy access stop control), we are also aware incorrect usage can result in accidents. In fact, using chainsaws to fell timber is one of the most dangerous tasks carried out each year on farms and in forests across this great Emerald Isle.
According to figures compiled by Teagas:
- Between 1996 and 2008, 13 fatal accidents occurred on farms and forests while people were working with timber.
- Many chainsaw users are lacking in the necessary knowledge and experience required to safely complete the tasks they are attempting.
- 6% of all injuries are wood or chainsaw related (120 serious injuries each year).
- Chainsaw injuries typically involve cuts and lacerations to the neck, limbs, trunk and head.
Due to the many dangers involved in chainsaw usage, Teagas recommends all chainsaw users gain the necessary knowledge required for safe and trouble-free usage. We are in total agreement with Teagas, so our staff members have been trained to provide detailed safety and usage instructions to chainsaw buyers. Our staff can also advise on additional safety garments and equipment, such as goggles and hard hats: and you probably won’t be surprised to learn we stock a variety of Husqvarna forest safety helmets.
