Strimmers, are one of the most useful tools in a gardener’s repertoire. Crucial for creating a neat edge to a lawn after it has been mowed or trimming hard-to-reach areas. When buying a strimmer, we, at Macroom Tool Hire and Sales, believe there are three main things to consider.
The size of your garden will affect what cutting width you need: the bigger the width, the more grass the trimmer can clear in one go.
Think about your power source. Electric models are easy to handle, but you need to be near a plug, while petrol versions are more powerful, but are noisier and heavier.
and finally, most trimmers work by using a nylon line that is spun very fast to cut through the grass. So pay attention to whether you are buying an automatic line feed strimmer, which releases the line as you need it, or a bump feed trimmer, which will usually require you to tap the strimmer’s head against the ground when you want more line.
